Follow OCHOGRideAlerts on Twitter to get immediate notifcations of ride cancellations or changes on your phone!

  1. Sign up for a free account on Twitter if you haven't already.
  2. Click on the Mobile tab in the settings for your Twitter account.
  3. Add your phone number and select "Start." You probably want to uncheck the box that says "let others find me by my phone number."
  4. Follow the steps to finalize connecting your phone with Twitter.
  5. Return to the Mobile tab on Twitter.
    • Check "Tweets from people you've enabled for mobile notifications."
    • For the Direct Messages box, checking this will allow other people you follow to send a direct message via SMS/Text to your phone. You don't need this for the OCHOGRideAlert account.
    • For the Mentions and Replies, checking this will alert you if anyone mentions your Twitter user ID or replies to one of your tweets. You don't need this for the OCHOGRideAlert account.
    • Sleep settings - here you can create a "silent period" where Twitter won't send you any alerts no matter what. Be careful here. While I never plan to send an OCHOGRideAlert at 2am, I may very well at 4:30am to 5:00am depending on when I am alerted by the head road captain on changes to that morning's ride.
  6. As one final step, go to the Notifications page and uncheck whatever you don't want to get an email notice about.
  7. Return to the OCHOGRideAlert page.
  8. Click the Follow button, then make sure you have clicked the phone button so the little phone is green.
  9. That's it. You should get last-minute ride alerts directly on your phone.
